This tariff finder is designed to help goods exporters and importers maximise benefits from New Zealand’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and compare tariffs in more than 140 other international markets. Goods exporters and importers can use it to check the tariff rate for over 164 World Trade Organization (WTO) members and observers.
For FTA markets the tariff finder shows the rates for each year while tariffs are being phased out under FTAs. It sets out the rules of origin for goods and provides information about documentation and additional requirements that apply.
The tariff finder can also be used to compare the tariff commitments for different products across all of New Zealand's FTAs and over 140 other markets, covering more than 164 WTO members and observers. The infomation is updated annually.
In this tariff finder, FTAs are presented in the harmonised system (HS) 2012 and 2017. Full FTA tariff schedules, can be downloaded here.
There are inevitably a lot of acronyms and abbreviations used in international trade. A quick reference guide to those most frequently used is included here (external link) .
Some search results for non-FTA partner markets may show the tariff line description in a foreign language (French or Spanish). This is the language used by that country in their Most Favoured Nation (MFN) tariff schedule and is recognised by the WTO for their tariff submission. This finder is based on data submitted to the WTO on an annual basis, however each market’s customs authority responsible for operating the latest applied tariffs should be consulted to confirm any changes, updates and additional detail.
